Marbles is a cat at PAWS who is adoptable PAWS Rescue (Pets Are Worth Saving) is a 501(c)3 non-profit, no-kill rescue organization whose roots go back to 1997. They were formerly known as Last Chance Rescue – Flint. They provide care for the animals in the Genesee, Oakland and Livingston County areas of Michigan. As they are not government supported, they operate entirely on donations from fellow animal lovers.

The “cone of shame” – all pet owners know how much their furry babies hate wearing that darn plastic cone wrapped around their necks. We watch as they walk into walls and doors or try to find creative ways to take it off, and we so wish we could help them. My dog’s saddest (and funniest) moment with the cone of shame happened as she, only 12 pounds and not very tall, ran around in the snow with it on. The cone acted as a snow shovel and scooped up huge amounts of the cold, fluffy stuff right into her face and gave her quite a chilly shock! It was hard for us not to laugh, but I’m guessing she didn’t find it funny at all.

Dog rescue – one at a time…

Coconut Grove Dog Rescue is an animal welfare and rescue group located in Coconut Grove, Florida. The group formed due to a loosely knit group of neighbors who brought their dogs to Blanche Dog Park located on Virginia Street and Shipping Avenue in Coconut Grove. They were concerned because they noticed that dogs are abandoned in their sailing village on an almost daily basis. They wanted to do something to help rescue these dogs because most dogs brought to Miami-Dade Animal Services will be euthanized due to overcrowding and lack of funding for staff, facilities, and care of the dogs until permanent homes can be found.
