Adoptable Pet Spotlight: Meet Shelby

This week’s PetMeds adoptable pet spotlight is on Shelby.  This pretty princess cannot figure out why nobody wants her. Can you give Shelby the home she’s been dreaming of?  She’s currently in a foster home in Saukville, WI.

Shelby is a medium-sized terrier mix

Terrier [Mix] Size:  Medium  Age:  Adult   Sex: Female

Hi, I’m Shelby…can you please help me figure something out? My foster family and I don’t know why nobody wants me. Nobody knows what breed I am exactly. I showed up at a shelter down South as a very emaciated stray. The folks down there got me hooked on my addiction…tennis balls! Anyhow, I’m about 43 lbs. and pretty low to the ground. I sure can move fast if I want to though…lol.

Shelby is potty-trained and crate-trained

I’m a very good girl, if I do say so myself. I’m potty trained, crate trained and pretty good on a leash. I like big people, little people and other dogs. I always sit before I get a treat or eat my meals. I’m a very happy gal and I love to snuggle quite a bit. Sometimes I can be a bit timid but it doesn’t last long at all because I really do want you to be my friend. My foster mom takes me to a lot of places with her and she even dresses me up sometimes. That’s not my favorite thing but I humor her because she’s so cute when I’m wearing an outfit. I LOVE rides in the car. When I go places, whether it’s a pet store, a park, or even a parade, everybody wants to pet me and meet me. They say I’m cute and that they’d love to have me as their very own. But then, even if I sit and snuggle with them, they never come to see me afterwards. I don’t know why they say I’m so great and then they don’t adopt me…… I like my foster home but there are a few other critters here so that means even though I’m loved, I get fewer belly rubs and stuff. Don’t get me wrong…I like everyone here but at some point it’s got to be all about me! Plus, if I find a home, my foster parents can help another dog like they helped me. So could you PLEASE consider giving me a “furever” home? I’d be ever so grateful….

Abby Rosenberg

Abby Rosenberg is a PetMeds employee and long-time cat lover. She was a volunteer for several years at a local no-kill cats only rescue shelter. This has prepared her for her most challenging role to date: secretary, photographer, social coordinator and treat dispenser for Daisy, and Daisy’s sidekick Harley. Daisy is a dilute calico Devon Rex cat, and Harley is a “cow-cat” who was adopted from the shelter where Abby volunteered. You can also find Abby on Google+
