Franky’s Rescue and Adoption Story

Samantha shares the story of how she fostered Franky and ended up falling in love and adopting him:

After wanting a dog but living in a no-dog apartment, I volunteered with the local Shih Tzu rescue in other supportive ways. I then moved to a dog friendly place and got my first foster notice. I was told the foster was a male Shih Tzu with a bit of a red eye problem. When I went to pick him up, I learned he was blind in his “red eye.” At first I was sad & angry but I called my mom who advised, “blind dogs need love too!”

I went from foster to foster-flunk and adopted Noel whose name I changed to Franky (as in Frank Sinatra aka Ol’ Blue Eyes because his blind eye is blue). Franky is the furry love of my life. He thinks he’s a Rottweiler at times but has the largest heart and personality to match. Had I known he was blind in one eye, I may have passed him up. I’m so thankful I didn’t. Rescuing is the best thing since sliced bread and the benefits go BOTH ways for sure.

Thanks for sharing Franky’s adoption story with us, Samantha.  You prove that if we look beyond our initial pre-conceptions, we can find a hidden gem!
