Adoptable Pet Spotlight: Meet Gala
Posted by Abby Rosenberg on April 3, 2013
Filed under PetMeds Spotlight

This week’s featured PetMeds adoptable pet is Gala, a sweet young whippet-mix, great with other dogs and kids. This Gala is sure to add a little festivity to your life!

It’s Sunday night and a fellow dog-lover friend contacted me since she was driving thru US 1 south in between Cutler Bay and Homestead when she found this beautiful pup running along US1 and at a risk of getting hit by a car. She stopped and managed to get her to a more secure street when she called me and I gave her directions on how to approach her and get her to safety. It happened to be a gorgeous whippet mix pup, approximately 6 months old and she was a sweetheart but was extremely scared….

My friend was able to get a leash and get her safe so she won’t run anymore while she went to get food and water. A sweet homeless guy that happened to be nearby offered to take care of her until we could found a foster or vet office where we could place her in boarding.

I was out of town so it was impossible for me to hold her so thanks to the power of the internet and networking, another fellow volunteer managed to get her at 2 AM and she took her to her backyard and we managed to place her early on Monday in boarding at Aussie Animal Clinic. Thanks to Dr. Machado she was able to stay there for a full week and got fully vetted until we found a foster home.

She was full of worms, starving to death, dehydrated  with a urinary tract infection….but now she is healthy, getting stronger and happier by the minute! She is temporarily enjoying a good life in a foster home in Miami Beach, but unfortunately this is a temporary foster solution since their foster parents cannot keep her longer due to condo association restrictions so she might be at risk of going back to a cage in a vet office. Please help us don’t let this happen!!!

She is a sweet dog, active, and will be the perfect addition to a young (or not that young…) active family…she is great with other dogs and with children. She doesn’t mind being around cats….so please help us find a home for Gala!!!

She is waiting to be adopted and we are hoping she will not return to boarding in the upcoming few days…
