My husband and I were living in Florida at the time and we wanted a dog badly. We searched a few shelters and never really connected and committed to a dog. We were driving down the road and saw a mobile pet adoption RV. We decided to stop just to look. We went inside and we immediately fell in love with Marlee Belle and Tucker, a girl and boy dachshund.

They said that the last owner got sick and couldn’t take care of the dogs anymore. We really thought 2 pets might be a bit much, but the rescue league wouldn’t let one go without the other. So we decided to take both. While my husband was holding Marlee, Tucker was trying to wriggle out of my arms to make sure Marlee was OK. I thought that the girl dog would be mine and the boy dog would be my husband’s. Boy was I wrong, the little boy loves me! He would whine at the bathroom door while I took a shower. My husband I decided to divorce. I took the dogs back home with me to Louisiana. Boy, was that a long ride! HA! They have given me more love and affection than I have ever known. I love them with all my heart and I am so glad that we got them that fateful October day.

Thank you for sharing Marlee and Tucker’s rescue story with us, Lacy! We’re so glad you adopted them together. Want us to feature your own rescue dog or cat? It’s easy!
