Rescue Spotlight: Feline Urgent Rescue and Rehab

Feline Urgent Rescue and Rehab (FURR) is a non-profit rescue organization dedicated to rescuing homeless and feral cats and placing them into loving forever home. Located in Waxhaw, NC and founded by Terry Schultz in 2009, this rescue has helped hundreds of cats in need that would have otherwise been euthanized in a shelter. The cats that FURR assists all receive veterinary care, vaccinations, are tested for FIV and FeLV, and are spayed or neutered. FURR has a no-kill, cage-free facility known as the “FURR Lodge” where the rescued cats reside until they find their permanent homes. A network of foster homes in the area allows FURR to rescue even more cats.

If you live in the area and are interested in adopting a cat, the FURR website includes a listing of cats and kittens available for adoption. The process includes completing an adoption application, after which Terry will do a home visit.  If it’s a good match, the final step is signing an adoption contract. If you’re not able to adopt, you can also volunteer to provide a foster home for a local cat or kitten in need, or you can sponsor a cat at the kitty lodge for just $10 per month; your monetary donations are tax deductible. FURR also accepts donations of necessary supplies from their wish list such as cat toys, cat food, litter, and cleaning supplies.  PetMeds was proud to help support Feline Urgent Rescue and Rehab with a donation of pet supplies.
