Rescue Spotlight: Pawsitive Karma Rescue

Pawsitive Karma Rescue (PKR) is a non-profit rescue group staffed by volunteers working to save animals from Central Texas high-kill and overcrowded shelters. Focusing on animals with special needs that have been deemed “unadoptable,” they remove these animals from the stressful shelter environment and place them immediately into a foster home, providing loving care and socialization until a permanent home is found. PKR also has a barn placement program for feral cats needing relocation, and one of their goals is a sanctuary for FeLV and FIV positive cats and kittens. Founded on the principle of Karmic Law, that one good deed leads to another, they note that every time they are able to adopt one of their animals, they are able to rescue another animal.

The PKR website has a listing of adoptable dogs and cats that includes photos, descriptions of the animals and adoption fee. If you find a pet you are interested in adopting, your next step is to complete the appropriate cat or dog Adoption Questionnaire after which a PKR representative will contact you.  All of the Pawsitive Karma Rescue dogs and cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before going to their new homes.

If you are not able to adopt but would like to help this group, volunteer to foster a pet in need or to help in other ways such as providing transportation, socializing with the pets, or helping with events. PKR appreciates your tax-deductible monetary donation, or you can donate needed supplies such as pet food, toys, cat litter, and pet bedding. PetMeds was proud to help support Pawsitive Karma Rescue with a donation of pet supplies.

About author

Abby Rosenberg

Abby Rosenberg is a PetMeds employee and long-time cat lover. She was a volunteer for several years at a local no-kill cats only rescue shelter. This has prepared her for her most challenging role to date: secretary, photographer, social coordinator and treat dispenser for Daisy, and Daisy’s sidekick Harley. Daisy is a dilute calico Devon Rex cat, and Harley is a “cow-cat” who was adopted from the shelter where Abby volunteered. You can also find Abby on Google+
