Rescue Spotlight: Pups Without Partners

Pups Without Partners (PWP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping greyhounds in the racing industry by finding homes for these dogs after their racing career is over. Since their inception in 1995, this group has placed over 6,000 greyhounds into loving permanent homes. PWP notes that greyhounds are affectionate and friendly dogs that make excellent pets after they retire from racing at about 2 to 5 years of age.

If you’re located in the New Haven/Northern Fairfield County area in CT and are interested in adopting a retired greyhound, you can view greyhounds available for adoption on their website.  Your next step will be to complete the PWP adoption application, after which you will be contacted to schedule a home visit. Love greyhounds but you’re not able to adopt right now? You can volunteer to provide a foster home for a greyhound in need, or to help with fundraising or at their regular “Meet and Greet” greyhound events. Pups Without Partners also gratefully accepts monetary donations which are tax-deductible.

PetMeds was proud to support Pups Without Partners with a donation of pet supplies.

About author

Abby Rosenberg

Abby Rosenberg is a PetMeds employee and long-time cat lover. She was a volunteer for several years at a local no-kill cats only rescue shelter. This has prepared her for her most challenging role to date: secretary, photographer, social coordinator and treat dispenser for Daisy, and Daisy’s sidekick Harley. Daisy is a dilute calico Devon Rex cat, and Harley is a “cow-cat” who was adopted from the shelter where Abby volunteered. You can also find Abby on Google+
