Rescue Spotlight: Sacramento Independent Animal Rescuers

Sacramento Independent Animal Rescuers (SIAR) is a non-profit organization located in Sacramento, California. They are run by volunteers, and are devoted to helping stray, abandoned and neglected pets and finding forever homes for these animals.  This organization  has rescued and placed over 1,500 dogs and cats into loving homes. SIAR is not a shelter; the animals they assist are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and receive any necessary veterinary care and are placed into foster care, a boarding facility or shelter until they are adopted.

Interested in adopting a dog or cat from SIAR? The Sacramento Independent Animal Rescuers’ website has a list of dogs and cats available for adoption, as well as an online adoption application.  The adoption fee depends upon the animal being adopted, and goes toward covering the expense of caring for the animals.

If you are not able to adopt but would still like to help, SIAR gratefully accepts your tax-deductible monetary donation.  PetMeds was proud to help support this organization with a donation of pet supplies.

About author

Abby Rosenberg

Abby Rosenberg is a PetMeds employee and long-time cat lover. She was a volunteer for several years at a local no-kill cats only rescue shelter. This has prepared her for her most challenging role to date: secretary, photographer, social coordinator and treat dispenser for Daisy, and Daisy’s sidekick Harley. Daisy is a dilute calico Devon Rex cat, and Harley is a “cow-cat” who was adopted from the shelter where Abby volunteered. You can also find Abby on Google+
