Voluntary Recall: Nature’s Recipe Dog Treats

Nature’s Recipe has issued a voluntary recall of their dog treats, Nature’s Recipe Oven Baked Biscuits with Real Chicken as a precaution due to possible Salmonella contamination. According to the Food and Drug Administration news release, the affected products are 19-ounce resealable pouches with Lot Codes 2199TP and 2200TP, and a Best By date of 10/11/13 and 10/12/13, respectively. While no human or pet illness have been reported to date, Nature’s Recipe is recalling the product “because of its commitment to safety and quality.”

Symptoms of Salmonella infections in pets include lethargy, diarrhea, fever and vomiting.  If your dog exhibits these symptoms after consuming the recalled dog treats, you are urged to contact your veterinarian.

If you have any dog treats from the affected lots, stop feeding it immediately and discard the product.  If you have questions about the recall, contact the Nature’s Recipe Consumer Affairs team 24 hours a day at 1-800-237-3856.
