Are you looking for an affectionate, adult dog to add to your family? Meet Apollo! This kid-friendly senior is available for adoption through Loving Fosters K9 Rescue.
Hi! My name is Apollo, and I’m an American pit bull terrier, possibly mixed with some mastiff because of my size. I am tall and weigh in at 82lbs. I have this wonderful brindle coat- do you like it? I’ve spent two Thanksgivings, Christmas’ and New Years in my foster home, and I really like my foster dad, but I’d love to have a family of my own. The rescue calls me a “senior”, but I don’t feel or act my age of 7. I love to run, chase and jump to catch a frisbee! Having a boy to do these things with would be AWESOME!
You see, I grew up with two boys and loved them very much, but the family moved and left me behind. This made me very sad, especially since I’ve never had any doggie friends of my own. Don’t get me wrong, I like other dogs, it just takes me a little bit to get comfortable with them, and if they’re bigger than me, they scare me and I hide behind the nearest human. The rescue says I have a high prey drive, but I will protect you from any skunks that charge out from under a bush at you. That happened to me and my foster dad one night while on a walk, and I grabbed the skunk and shook it till my foster dad told me “Drop It”! Foster dad says that skunk got airline miles that night!
Some of my favorite things to do are exploring the woods, playing fetch, going for walks and swimming. My foster dad says I’m also very affectionate, whatever that means. I do know that I love to snuggle near my human and get lots of pets, especially my ears, neck and chest. Being my age, one of the benefits is I don’t need a crate. I’m very good left home alone, never have any accidents or break anything, and when foster dad comes home, I run and get one of my favorite toys and dance around the room celebrating him coming home. If you make me a part of your family, I promise to do the same celebration dance for you too!
Apollo is up-to-date on vaccinations, neutered, heartworm negative, and is available for adoption in the Chicagoland/Milwaukee area.
