Are you looking for a sweet, young Doberman to add to your family? Meet Garrett! He’s had a rough start but is looking for a patient and loving home through Fureverhomes Doberman Rescue, Inc.
Garrett came to Fureverhomes Doberman Rescue, Inc. at 13 months old. He is a very handsome black and tan Doberman Pinscher, with a docked tail and natural ears. This young male Doberman and his mother were pulled from the “Urgent List” at Forrest City Area Humane Society, St. Francis County, Arkansas. We were told that he was found as a stray several times and returned to his owner/breeder, only this time the owner did not want him back.
Garrett probably spent most of his time living outdoors; however, he has settled in at his foster home and is not as fearful of humans as the young Dobe we met coming off his transport from Arkansas to Pennsylvania. A great foster family has definitely made the difference. The transformation has been quite astonishing: Garrett is exploring, running freely in his new fenced in foster yard, and starting to show interest in greeting his family and hanging out with his foster’s two male dogs. Garrett will now take treats from our foster’s hands, which was something we thought impossible initially. Garrett is beginning to blossom!
The right canine brother or sister will be beneficial to Garrett as he finds his place in his new home, and he has asked for no young children please (peaceful is what Garrett likes best). Garrett has been vetted in Arkansas prior to transport, and he did test negative for heartworm and Lyme. He was neutered, had his vaccinations updated, was micro-chipped and began his monthly Heartgard Plus and Frontline Plus preventatives. We again vetted him here in Pennsylvania; his blood panel showed he tested negative for Lyme, but he unfortunately tested positive for heartworm. We have already completed his lengthy and expensive heartworm treatment. Garrett is now a 21-month-old happy, healthy, young Doberman. His x-rays show no permanent damage and his heart size is within the normal parameters. He was also treated with Malaseb shampoo for Giardia and was de-wormed.
Garrett is a very sweet boy who will need a patient home with a loving and calm environment, one that will continue to gradually nudge him forward positively. We would like his future family to spend time with Garrett and become a part of his world before he would make the transition into his adoptive home. There is an amazing Doberman here with a big heart just waiting for his chance at life. If you are able to consider opening your heart and home to a rescued Doberman, please send your request for an adoption application to FureverhomesDobermanRescue@outlook.com.
