Adoptable pet spotlight: Gunner

Are you looking for an affectionate and loyal dog to add to your family? Meet Gunner! This older German shorthaired pointer is looking for his forever family through the Wisconsin German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue, Inc.

If you’re looking for a dog to spoil, pick me! I am an 11-year-old German shorthaired pointer in good health. I have had a Certified Veterinary Inspection and extensive blood work, and I passed these tests with flying colors. I do have some limited range of motion in my joints but still enjoy getting out for a walk/jog! I also know some basic commands like sit but you may have to ask loudly because I am a little hard of hearing.

I am great on leash and am your textbook “velcro” dog. I will lay with you on the couch (if it’s okay), wait for you to get out of the shower, and ride shotgun while we go for a drive! I don’t get along with all dogs so I would be best in a one dog home and always supervised/leashed when meeting new dogs.  I would also do much better in a fenced in yard.

I do enjoy some intermittent counter surfing and some snooping in the garbage so a small amount of “Gunner-Proofing” may be necessary. I am fully house trained so I can be left alone at home or a do okay in a kennel if necessary. You won’t hear me bark much unless you getting me excited or someone comes to the door.

Whenever you’re ready to spoil me in my “retirement” — come get me!

Gunner is available for adoption through the Wisconsin German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue, Inc., in Alma, WI. Please visit the website and fill out an application if you are interested in adopting Gunner.
