Hi I’m Rex! I am a very misunderstood young dog. I am a 9 months old lab mix. I came into the rescue with my mom and 7 brothers and sisters from a high kill shelter at 12 weeks old. I have been adopted twice now and returned to the rescue. My first home was with a young couple. They fell in love with me because I was a small pup. They didn’t have enough time for me and so didn’t teach me manners. When they got transferred to a new town, they left me behind. Luckily, the rescue found out and saved me again from another high kill shelter. Another family adopted me. They didn’t listen when they were told that I had become very head strong and liked to get my way. They wanted to keep me crated all day because I have lots of energy and I pulled when we went for walks. They wouldn’t take the time to teach me manners either. I, once again, got returned to the rescue.

Now, my fosters are working with me. They are trying to teach me manners and how to walk on a leash without pulling. I am house trained. I get along with other dogs, but I like to be the one in charge. Also, if a cat runs from me, I’ll chase it. I’m trying to break that habit but I had never been told before that I wasn’t supposed to do that. I thought it was a game we were playing. I’m doing better about this but won’t say I have gotten it totally out of my system.  I have gotten to the chewy stage in my life so my new home needs to remember to have things for me to chew on (you know like bones, antlers, hooves and that sort of thing). I am a friendly dog and am growing up to be a very beautiful boy. I think an active family that will love to play with me and even go for runs would be perfect. I do like to be inside with my family so please don’t get me and leave me outside all of the time, okay?

I have been neutered, had a dental, heart worm tested negative, a rabies shot, a distemper/parvo booster, de-wormed, microchipped and started on heartworm and flea/tick preventative.
