Nora’s adoption story

We adopted Nora from American Lab Rescue on March 22, 2012. Originally, we were supposed to adopt another dog, but days before her transport, circumstances changed and ALR was not able to send her to us. Heartbroken, we didn’t know what to do. Our liaison from ALR suggested we visit a dog in person and arranged for us to go to a foster home and see a dog named Nora that matched our profile.

When we got there, it was love at first sight. We agreed to adopt her on the spot and days later went to bring her to her forever home. She is our first dog, and we absolutely love her. Shortly after getting her, she hurt herself chasing a chipmunk under the deck. We were shocked and saddened to learn that our one and a half year old dog had advanced arthritis and hip dysplasia. We got her on meds, and she has been happy and playful ever since. We know that one day things may get tough for our Nora, but we will love her and do the best we can and just keep her happy and healthy. She was once a stray wandering around Louisiana and thanks to many caring and generous people, she has found her way to us and we are so thankful to have her!

Thanks for sharing Nora’s adoption story with us, Shannon! It sounds like she’s the perfect dog for your family, and we’re so glad you wanted to adopt.
