Sammy’s and Bear’s adoption stories

Sammy and Bear in their adoptive home

On December 21, 2012 our precious Radar died in our arms from liver cancer. He was our baby, and we were heartbroken to say the least. It had been over 25 years since our home didn’t have a pet.

The next day I thought it would help if I put all his “stuff” away. Needless to say it didn’t. I went on and found the eyes of a little guy that just pulled me in. On December 23rd, we went to see him and brought him home that day! Sammy saved me and every day since his beautiful eyes make me know Radar sent him.

About 1 year later, we realized he needed a brother or sister and along came Bear. We were vacationing and an ad came up from Petfinder again. There he was, Sammy’s brother. Funny we were in Galveston and Bear was in Austin. So on our way back home to Dallas we stopped and got Bear. Our home is filled with laughter and Radar is resting in peace knowing his toys and beds are filled with babies that needed a home. That being said, I didn’t rescue these boys, they rescued me. They did not replace Radar. They have their own place in my heart.

Thanks for sharing Sammy’s and Bear’s adoption stories with us, Cathy! We’re so glad you wanted to adopt again after losing Radar.
