This week, Rhonda shares the rescue story of Boomer:
One Saturday in early Jan 2011, my son and I were at a 5k race, where the Boulder Humane Society had a van with animals for adoption. All of them had been brought that week from UT remote areas that were kill zones to Boulder, CO. Prince, as he had been labeled, was a sweet, big dog with beautiful eyes. We wanted him immediately, but by the time we walked back to the car to get my wallet for a deposit, another family had put a hold on him. Just in case we put a second hold on him. We kept checking back to see if they adopted him, when their time lapsed to adopt, we took my husband and daughter to meet Prince. He was not super affectionate when we went in to adopt him. We had a 14 yr old border collie/lab, Sparki that we knew would not live long. We introduced the two and it seemed okay, she tolerated Prince. So, on Jan. 11th, 2011 we brought him home. He has been the love of our life ever since.
Sparki, our lab mix died Dec. 2011. They lived together for a year and had fun, but now he rules the roost. This is Boomer as we call him. Since he is a huge Boomerang, who knows he is loved and always comes home. He can jump many fences with ease but he is a delight. He sleeps with us and runs along side the kids bikes as my husband bikes 1 mile to school with them. He is a crazy, wonderful freaky dog! Just had to share rescue dogs are the BEST!!
