2017 Change a Pet’s Life Contest

Third annual 1-800-PetMeds Cares™ Change a Pet's Life Contest

The third annual Change a Pet’s Life Contest ended January 24, 2017, and three adoptable pets received grants for the medical care they needed. The first place pet was Simpson, a pug puppy from Pug Rescue Austin.

Simpson was hit by a car and nearly killed in December of 2016. His owners at the time were about to euthanize him when Pug Rescue Austin volunteered to take him into rescue and get him the care he needed. Simpson’s recovery took about 2 months of surgeries and rehabilitation before he was medically cleared and available for adoption. Simpson has since found his forever home where he has a new name, Benson, to accompany his new life.

This is Benson’s Change a Pet’s Life story:

Benson had severe wounds on his right hind leg, requiring constant care, cleaning, and bandaging. He also had a broken pelvis. The medical grant from 1-800-PetMeds Cares™ and the Change a Pet’s Life Contest helped fund Benson’s pelvic surgery and the physical therapy he needed through his recovery time. Pug Rescue Austin said Benson never had a bad day, even with all of his medical troubles.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this contest for helping to change Benson’s life.
