Would $2,500 help your organization spay and neuter cats and/or dogs in your community? If that’s a ‘yes’, read on to learn more about the 1-800-PetMeds Cares Spring into Action Spay/Neuter Contest!
Summer is coming, and warmer temperatures trigger pets’ reproductive cycles. As many people involved in pet rescue know, this causes a certain phenomenon referred to as kitten season (and to a lesser extent, puppy season), when pets become pregnant and have litters. This year, we need your help to reduce pet overpopulation! Help us beat the heat by spaying and neutering pets before summer arrives.
Why a spay and neuter grant?
Spaying and neutering pets is the only way to reduce pet overpopulation and prevent accidental pet pregnancies. As summer approaches, pets are increasingly likely to become pregnant, resulting in many unplanned litters of puppies and kittens. While puppies and kittens are cute, many of these pets may end up in already-crowded shelters or, in the case of feral cats, out on the streets struggling to survive.
The best way to end the cycle of pet overpopulation is to stop it before it starts by spaying and neutering. That’s why we’re granting $4,000 to fund the spay and neuter of pets this spring.
Can my group enter?
A group is eligible to enter if it is a registered 501(c)(3) organization that spays and neuters cats and/or dogs in the U.S.

- Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs and stray cat spay and neuter programs
