PetMeds Spotlight: Dog Houses

Today’s PetMeds spotlight is on Dog Houses. Whether your building it yourself, or buying one from the store there are a few things to keep in mind.

A dog house should be large enough for a dog to stand up and turn around in, but small enough to keep the dog’s body heat if your not going to provide an electric warming blanket. Dogs enjoy having a blanket to lay on, and remember to wash them every couple of weeks so they don’t spread disease.

A doghouse is not the same thing as a shady spot outside, inside they can get very hot because of the lack of air circulation. Shade can be accomplished by planting a tree, and be sure to provide plenty of water during the summer.

These are just a couple of tips to keep in mind for when your dog is spending time outside.
