PetMeds Spotlight: Joplin Humane Society Animal Adoption & Resource Center

Today’s PetMeds Spotlight is on the Joplin Humane Society Animal Adoption & Resource Center.  On May 22nd, Tornadoes ripped through the town of Joplin, Missouri and at the time of this post, the death toll is at 122, 750 people injured, and at least 1700 still unaccounted for.  The pets of those families are being reunited through social networks and other organizations like Joplin Humane Society which was damaged but is still functioning.  1800PetMeds is proud to have been a contributor to Joplin Humane Society prior to the devastation through our Donation Program for Shelters and Rescues.  As soon as we found out the building was still able to accept donations and care for the found animals, we sent a $1000+ cash and product donation the day after the tornado struck, pictured above and through their website, http://www.joplinhumane.org/donate.html.

With tragedies like these, it is difficult to find an explanation or reasoning to put one’s self at ease, but  Leo Buscaglia once noted, “There are two big forces at work, external and internal. We have very little control over external forces such as tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, disasters, illness and pain. What really matters is the internal force. How do I respond to those disasters? “
