The Montville Office of Animal Control investigates complaints and concerns about roaming and nuisance dogs, dog bites, cruelty and neglect cases, injured dogs and situations involving possible rabid animal exposure of humans or domestic animals. Verbal or written warnings, infractions or misdemeanor summons may be issued pursuant to Chapter 435 of the Connecticut General Statutes. Impounded dogs are cared for at the Maple Avenue pound. Dogs not claimed by owners are available for adoption in accordance with applicable state laws and regulations.
Dog Safety and Care classes are provided to schools and other civic organizations. They also host and participate with other local Animal Control agencies in dog related events to promote the town’s pound and to promote public awareness of proper dog care and control.
