Gulf Coast Cocker Spaniel Rescue (GCCSR) is not a shelter, but a non-profit rescue organization dedicated to fostering rescue dogs until they can be placed in a forever home. Their motto is “Striving to Provide Quality Care and Forever Homes, One Cocker Spaniel at a Time.”
The inspiration behind GCCSR was a dog named Hunter, who was rescued from a terrible situation where he was neglected and kept in a garage. After his rescue, Hunter gradually transformed into a wonderful dog and had a happy life with his new family. Sadly, his happy new life was cut short when he became paralyzed due to several degenerated discs. However, Hunter’s legacy lives on and his story was one of the inspirations behind the formation of the Gulf Coast Cocker Spaniel Rescue.
If you are interesting in adopting a Cocker Spaniel, the GCCSR website has an on-line adoption application/contract you can fill out and submit. They also have a photo gallery of Cocker Spaniels available for adoption that you can browse, along with information about the potential adoptees.
How can you help? If you live in the area, Gulf Coast Cocker Spaniel Rescue is always looking for volunteers to provide loving foster homes. If you are not able to foster a dog, you can volunteer to assist the organization in many other ways. GCCSR also gratefully accepts monetary donations, which they rely upon to help with the costs of spaying/neutering, testing and vaccinating the dogs. PetMeds was proud to support GCCSR with a donation of pet supplies.
