Rescue Spotlight: Pet Rescue of Unwanted Dogs

Founded in 1997, Pet Rescue of Unwanted Dogs (PROUD), is a non-profit rescue group dedicated to saving dogs in the California Central Valley area and placing them in great homes. Staffed entirely by volunteers, the rescued dogs are housed either in a foster home or at the PROUD facility until a permanent, loving home is found. This group is also dedicated to promoting pet welfare through education, supporting spay/neuter, and encouraging the humane treatment of animals.

The PROUD website has a listing of dogs available for adoption. If you live in California and are interested in adopting, fill out their online adoption application, and contact PROUD with any questions you may have. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter as well as appropriate vaccinations.

If you’re not able to adopt, you can help with a tax-deductible monetary donation, or a donation of needed supplies such as dog beds, dog food and treats, and dog houses. PetMeds was proud to help support this organization with a donation of pet supplies.
