The Whisker Kisses Koalition is a non-profit corporation with the goal of providing “rescue, rehabilitation and safe haven for cats and exotic pets that have been abused, abandoned, injured or confiscated.” They note that shelters and rescues are usually overloaded and may only be able to accept adoptable pets. The Whisker Kisses Refuge is able to provide a second chance to exotic pets or unwanted, abandoned cats that may be considered “unadoptable.” This group also provides veterinary care and behavioral enrichment to ensure the well-being of all the rescued animals in their care.

They are developing a 20-acre refuge located in the Okanogan Valley of Washington state which will serve as a permanent safe haven for the rescued animals with no other option. Phase 1 is a permanent refuge for cats.  New incoming cats will be spayed or neutered, and then introduced to the cat habitat which allows them to play, sleep, roam and interact with other cats.   Phase 2 is a planned ferret haven, and Phase 3 will provide a safe haven for exotic pets.

How can you help? All funding received by the Whisker Kisses Koalition goes directly to helping the animals. The Whisker Kisses Koalition gratefully accepts your tax-deductible donation, which will be used to help provide a home, veterinary care, food and behavioral enrichment for the animals, or you can become a sponsor for their Refuge. Currently, Whisker Kisses Koalition is working to receive a permanent presence on GlobalGiving, which will greatly help their fundraising platform.  Their goal is to raise at least $4,000 from at least 50 separate donors in order to stay on at GlobalGiving.
