Shelter Spotlight: Street Paws

Street Paws is a recent recipient of a 1-800-PetMeds Cares™ product donation through our shelter donations program. You can learn about how 1-800-PetMeds Cares here.

Street Paws has rescued a total of 268 pets since 2013, and is located in McDonough, Georgia. Their purpose is to work with local county animal control shelters, county government and other animal groups for the prevention of cruelty to animals, the relief of suffering among animals, including the reduction of animal overpopulation through spay/neuters and publicizing the benefit thereof; promote responsible pet ownership including vaccinations, improve the lives of animals living on the streets, provide humane education to the citizenry and foster a healthy relationship between people and animals.

At any given time, Street Paws has about 50 animals in their care. With over 33 volunteers and fosters, this organization has managed to help change the lives of over 640 animals. Street Paws works with a lot of feral animals. They believe that working at a street level makes a huge impact on spay/neuter as well as helps control the overpopulation of animals entering local animal control. In fact, Street Paws has touched the lives of over 387 cats through TNR (trap, neuter, feed program). This organization strongly believes in community outreach and has participated in a total of 84 community projects. They even occasionally hold educational classes at local schools.

Each year, Street Paws hold their annual Spayghetti Dinner in March. They are currently looking for raffle/silent auction items as well as sponsors for their March 2019 event.

Meet Ace and Delilah!

“Ace is a sweet, active young boy.  He is very friendly with people, my other cats and my dog.  Ace plays with my other cats on a regular basis.  He’s got adorable sock paws and a long tail that he will grow into.  His black fur is getting some salt and pepper markings, very unique.  He is very smart, full of love and affection, and curious.  He’s going to make a great pet for some lucky person or family.  To apply to adopt this pet please fill out a Preliminary Adoption Application at http://streetpaws.org/adoption-application/. This application does not commit you to an adoption. It is used to screen those interested to make sure the home is a good match for the pet. We verify vet history on current/previous pets to ensure pets have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated annually. Our adoption fee is $100 for all of our cats. They have been given age-appropriate vaccinations, are spayed/neutered, combo tested, dewormed, have received flea prevention and micro-chipped.”

“I’m Delilah and my first birthday was on March 15th. I love playing with my foster dog and cat friends plus the ones with two legs are awesome cuddlers. I’m trying very hard to listen and follow all the house rules. They say I am a mixture of Boxer and Shephard but what I know is that I’m beautiful and wishing for my furever home. Can you make my wish come true? Adorable and sweet natured, searching for her furever family! Crate trained, 90% housebroken and still working on it, super cuddly and playful puppy. Submissive to other dogs, plays well with kids and cats, listens well to commands and is currently working on leash training.  Will be available once spayed.  No out of state adoptions.
