Whisker Kisses Koalition

Today’s PetMeds Spotlight is on the Whisker Kisses Koalition, they provide rescue, rehabilitation and safe haven for cats and exotic pets that have been abused, abandoned, injured or confiscated.

Whisker Kisses Koalition is a non-profit corporation which has evolved over many years from the individual efforts of the founding directors, Randall Garrett Herzon, RVT and Margaret Heim. Mr. Herzon who serves as the Executive Director and Refuge Manager has provided on-going rescue and rehabilitation for domestic, exotic and wild animals throughout his career. Margaret Heim who serves as the Director of Animal Care has been directly involved in the rescue of cats that have been abused and abandoned. Mr. Herzon personally purchased 20 acres to establish a refuge to serve as a permanent safe haven for the rescued animals that have no other option.

The Whisker Kisses Koalition rescues animals in need, rehabilitates and releases those that are able, and provides a safe haven for those that need a life home. The Whisker Kisses Koalition also provides ongoing behavioral enrichment, veterinary and day to day care essential to the well-being of all rescued animals, as well as engages in educational outreach.

With ongoing free roaming cats, injured wildlife and confiscated exotic pets, shelters are overloaded, there are not enough wildlife rescues and confiscated exotic pets have few options. The Whisker Kisses Refuge gives a second chance to animals that would not otherwise be afforded that opportunity.

The Whisker Kisses Koalition has already helped 100’s of animals including rescue, spay and neuter, emergency care, wildlife relocation, and finding pets permanent homes. Currently the Whisker Kisses Koalition has 30 permanent residents consisting of 7 different species.
